On September 29, 2020, in a statement by Pete Lau, OnePlus CEO, it was confirmed that OnePlus 8T Pro won’t launch in 2020. But there’s hope – we already mentioned that the OnePlus 8T will launch on October 14, 2020.
So, why are people so disappointed about the news? Well, on September 7, 2020, a tipster reported discovering accidentally leaked data about OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8T Pro. They were seen on their website under a code name but quickly deleted. And, because OnePlus hinted that another smartphone will launch on October 14 alongside 8T, people hoped it would be the Pro version.
But, what is the reason behind the delayed launch? It was explained that the Pro version is a flagship phone on its own. Also, it wouldn’t fit their mid-to-late-year release schedule. The major reason is that OnePlus 8T Pro wouldn’t have a possible upgrade. It already packs all the hardware upgrades and features available to OnePlus at the moment.
So, what now? Well, now that OnePlus 8T Pro won’t launch, many people have jumped on another rumor bandwagon. As mentioned, it is speculated that another smartphone will be part of the October 14 release. The majority agree that it could be a phone in the OnePlus’ affordable smartphone series, Nord.
Some people are convinced it could be OnePlus Nord 100, other think OnePlus Nord 105g will be released. Nothing is confirmed at this time, although one thing is for sure, it will have an alluring price. Some reviewers even went as far as to call the Nord series “the iPhone SE of the OnePlus world”. This meant that the model could hold its own even against a flagship in some aspects while being inexpensive in comparison.
Although there are leaks about the specifications of OnePlus 8T, very little has surfaced about the OnePlus 8T Pro. We suppose more will be known around mid-October and afterward. That means we can do nothing but wait for new leaks. Rest assured, we will be among the first to give you an update.
